The playground in my neighborhood park- Beverley Sheffield Northwest District Park, is falling apart. I wanted to come up with some designs that I could print on shirts and stickers to raise money to build a new playscape. Hilariously, the day I started working on my little project, I got a notice in the mail from Austin Parks and Recreation about the Northwest Park “Vision Plan” schedule.

I came up with a couple concepts, the first one is a typographic logo based off the easily overlooked “allandale” neighborhood sign on the south west corner of Burnet Road and Koenig lane. I noticed it one day and thought “I’d wear that on a shirt”.

After I learned that the city is planning the rebuild of the playscape- and they are gonna pay for it, I reached out to my neighborhood association social committee and told them that I had some designs they can use to raise money for whatever they need money for. They happily accepted my offer but asked several times to make the design “more generic” my proposals were way too edgy for these suburban soccer moms. I did as they asked, because whatever.

The baseball scene in Dazed and Confused was filmed at Northwest Parks baseball field. The whole movie was filmed in and around the Allandale and Brentwood neighborhoods. So I made a McConaughey design. just for fun.

Allandale Neighborhood Association Social Committee chose this design for the 4th of July Parade t-shirt! (s)
